چکیده

This paper addresses an important issue on the spreading bandwidth of direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) cellular mobile radio systems: does wider spreading bandwidth provide larger capacity? And if so, to what extent? The capacity of the perfect power controlled reverse link is evaluated by computer simulation for 1.25MHz and 5MHz spreading bandwidths under various sets of propagation channel parameters (path loss decay factor, shadowing standard deviation, shadowing correlation, number of resolved propagation paths) and antenna diversity reception. key words: DS-CDMA, mobile radio, capacity, spreading band-

Link Capacity and Signal Power According to Allocations of Spreading Codes and Bandwidth in CDMA Systems

Reverse link performance analysis in singlecode and multi-code CDMA systems is presented. Results show that the single-code system yields better performance than does the multi-code system in terms of link capacity and signal power. This improvement increases as spreading bandwidth is reduced and the number of spreading codes assigned to a user is increased. key words: link capacity, signal pow...

Reverse Link Capacity of Orthogonal Multi-Code DS-CDMA with Multiple Connections

DS-CDMA provides a flexible support for the low-to-high bit rate of multimedia services upon a specific user’s request. A simple capacity expression is derived for a powercontrolled reverse link of orthogonal multi-code DS-CDMA with multiple connections. It is found that an orthogonal multi-code user having multiple connections is equivalent to a single connection user, but with a spreading fac...

Broadband packet wireless access based on VSF-OFCDM and MC/DS-CDMA

This paper proposes broadband packet wireless access employing Variable Spreading Factor-Orthogonal Frequency and Code Division Multiplexing (VSF-OFCDM) with two-dimensional spreading that prioritizes time domain spreading in the forward link and Multi-carrier/DS-CDMA (MC/DSCDMA) in the reverse link for the system beyond IMT-2000. Based on the wireless access scheme, we propose major radio air ...

Performance of very low rate channel coding in W-CDMA reverse link

This paper investigates the packet error rate (PER) and the throughput performance employing code spreading (CS), in which a very low-rate channel coding is used instead of spreading by the Walsh-Hadamard channelization code, associated with Type-I Hybrid ARQ with packet combing (i.e., Chase combining) in the W-CDMA reverse link. Simulation results elucidate that the required average received s...

Throughput Improvement of STS-Based MC DS-CDMA System with Variable Spreading Factor

The throughput enhancement of Space-Time Spreading (STS)-based Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is investigated in this paper. Variable Spreading Factor (VSF) is utilized to improve the data throughput of the system. In this contribution, an analytical approach is proposed to compute a new expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) performance of t...
